Dzeko’s effort was the only shot City had on target during the game from eight attempts, with Liverpool testing Joe Hart five times from 11 shots.
Liverpool are just three points back from third placed Arsenal, who themselves are only four behind second placed Manchester City, who are in the worst form of any side in the Premier League’s top six.
