Liverpool beat Manchester City 2-1 at Anfield.
There were grinning faces in the stands as Liverpool beat Manchester City 2-1 at Anfield.
The Reds kept up the pressure in the race for a top four place with the victory, much to the delight of former player and manager Kenny Dalglish watching on in the stands.
Managing director Ian Ayre was also beaming, giving a thumbs up as Brendan Rodgers’ side did the business on the field.
Liverpool scored through Jordan Henderson and Coutinho as Raheem Sterling provided two assists, while Edin Dzeko replied for the visitors.
Dzeko’s effort was the only shot City had on target during the game from eight attempts, with Liverpool testing Joe Hart five times from 11 shots.
Liverpool are just three points back from third placed Arsenal, who themselves are only four behind second placed Manchester City, who are in the worst form of any side in the Premier League’s top six.
