Tottenham Hotspur take on Gillingham in the EFL Cup this evening and will be looking to get the better of a former player in the opposing dugout.

Justin Edinburgh is the Gills boss and spent ten years with Spurs in his career as a player. He played over 200 league games for Tottenham Hotspur after joining the club from Southend United in 1990.

Edinburgh therefore will have some very fond memories of his time at White Hart Lane.
The good times started early.
He won an FA Cup medal in 1991, despite playing just 12 times for the club previously, as Spurs defeated Nottingham Forest in the final.

He did not always have the best of times at Wembley. He won another piece of silverware in the competition he will take Spurs on in this evening.
In 1999 they defeated Leicester City in the competition. Unfortunately for Edinburgh he found himself sent off after a now notorious ‘elbow’ on Robbie Savage.

He left for Portsmouth in 2000 but by that point had started struggling with injury problems and retired from professional football in 2003.
Now he gets a chance to defeat his old club Spurs in what would be a famous victory.
