Everton’s fine run of form came to an end on Saturday afternoon, as they lost 2-0 away at already-relegated Fulham in a dour display.

The Toffees beat Arsenal last weekend to make it three wins in a row, whilst they’d lost just once in six games and kept five clean sheets in that run.

A game against already-down Fulham appeared to be a formality for Marco Silva’s side, but they slipped back into bad habits from earlier this season with a terrible showing.

Fulham opened the scoring just after half time as Tom Cairney scored, before ex-Liverpool man Ryan Babel grabbed the second to secure all three points for Fulham.

Against the Premier League’s worst defence, Everton failed to score, and whilst some fans may be on Silva’s back again, there was an interesting face in the crowd.

Ex-Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was spotted watching the game, leading many to wonder just why he was there.

Out of work since December, Mourinho won’t be in contention for the Fulham job any time soon, and a move to Everton – whilst not beyond all realms of possibility – seems unlikely given Silva’s recent run.

It’s more likely that he was just there given that he still has a house in West London, but his presence may well be of interest to many supporters.
