Joel Campbell netted Arsenal’s second in the 5-1 win against Benfica.
Arsenal have shown the Premier League what to expect from them next season with a thumping victory against Benfica at The Emirates.
The Gunners handed out a footballing lesson to the Portuguese champions who, despite losing several big names this summer, remain a very decent side.
The 5-1 scoreline did not flatter The Gunners who had several star performers on the day – with Aaron Ramsey perhaps the pick of the bunch after his incredible midfield performance.
Yaya Sanogo was obviously on fire – that was evident from his four, that’s right, FOUR goals he notched up. Perhaps Arsene Wenger is right – they do not need another striker.
But the performance of a returning loanee also left Wenger with a smile on his face – the performance of Costa Rican Joel Campbell.
The forward, who had an excellent World Cup this summer, scored his first goal for the club, and in general put in a classy performance which would have left fans purring.
If he can play like that week in week out in the Premier League he could turn out to be a real gem.
