Rangers booked their place in the last four of the Scottish Cup with an emphatic win over Falkirk at Ibrox, with Jason Cummings stealing the show on another good day for Graeme Murty’s side.
The Gers went into the game against the Scottish Championship side having won their previous five games in all competitions and they ensured that they go into next weekend’s Old Firm game having made it six victories on the spin.
Cummings was the star on what briefly looked as if it could prove a difficult afternoon for Murty’s men. After a decent start from the visitors, Cummings took advantage of the space he was to given inside the box to break the deadlock from a tight angle with a very composed finish.
Falkirk would equalise, but the January signing ensured that the scores were not level for long as he poked the ball into the bottom corner within a minute of the Gers being pegged back.
An own goal just before half-time put Rangers well into the driving seat before Cummings rounded off the victory with the second-half’s only goal 15 minutes from time.
It was a brilliant performance from the 22-year-old and an impressive scoreline given that Rangers were certainly not at their best against their second tier opponents.
And while Cummings rightly hogs the limelight, several of the defining images from the game highlight the Light Blues’ togetherness as a squad as they depict most of the players on the pitch getting together to celebrate each of the forward’s goals.
