Gabriel Paulista is back in training for Arsenal ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 second-leg tie against AS Monaco.
Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista is back in training with the team ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League tie against AS Monaco away from home.
The 24-year-old centre-back has missed the last two games for the Gunners with a hamstring injury, but he now seems to be in contention to feature in the second leg of the last-16 tie at Stade Louis II in Monaco.
Gabriel trained with the rest of the Arsenal team at their London Colney base, as the side prepared to launch a comeback in the second leg.
Arsene Wenger’s team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Monaco in the first leg of the last-16 tie at the Emirates Stadium in North London last month.
Arsenal will have to score at least three goals on Tuesday, and that will be far from easy against a team who are defensively very strong.
However, the fact that Gabriel is back and could feature will be a boost to the Gunners. Per Mertesacker was disappointing against Monaco in the first leg, and he could be replaced by the Brazilian centre-back.
