The Celtic defender was exceptional again last night as the Hoops won 1-0 in Norway.

Technically he might not belong to Celtic, but Filip Benkovic looked every inch a Hoops player at heart last night.

Celtic kept alive their hopes of reaching the last 32 of the Europa League with a brilliant 1-0 win away to Rosenborg in Norway.

Benkovic, signed by Brendan Rodgers on a season-long loan from Leicester City, added another fine performance to his growing catalogue.

Bhoys fans adore the 21-year-old – who cost the Foxes £13 million in the summer [Sky Sports] – and rightly so, because he has been nothing short of outstanding.

Celtic supporters have certainly taken him into their hearts and, going by photos from last night, Benkovic has taken the club into his.

Once the full-time whistle went, the Croatian centre-back did a triumphant fist pump, before meeting Kieran Tierney in a warm embrace.

Scott Sinclair’s 42nd-minute header was enough to give Rodgers’s side a massive three points which keeps them in the hunt for last-32 qualification.

The Scots sit second in Group B, three points ahead of Leipzig who boast a better goal difference, but one point against run-away leaders Salzburg in the final gameweek on December 13 would see the Premiership champions advance.
