Indeed, the 28-year-old was a winner of a training mini-game recently alongside fellow forgotten man Stefan Scepovic. Now, he has been pictured teeing last season’s top scorer Leigh Griffiths up perfectly. Is it a combination Celtic fans may actually see out on the pitch?
The Bhoys faithful have recently been expressing their indifference in the HITC Sport comments section about a potential Boerrigter exit this summer, were Ronny Deila to fulfill his aim of reducing his squad size.
But the Dutchman has so far been very involved in Celtic pre-season training and looking to prepare for the new season. If he can stay fit and enjoy a strong few weeks of preparation, could Boerrigter play a part in the Bhoys’ campaign?
There was, naturally, more excitement as new signing Nadir Ciftci took part in Celtic practice. But the 28-year-old is still a Celtic player and has some training-ground presence. Should he eventually make an impact at Parkhead, it would surely have to be this season at the latest.
