Celtic have received an injury boost with Dedryck Boyata returning to training.
Celtic have received a boost ahead of Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership clash with Hibernian with the club’s training ground images showing Dedryck Boyata back involved following injury – while Karamoko Dembele is also amongst the first-team squad.
The Hoops are back to being six points clear at the top of the table after beating St Johnstone 2-0 at the weekend. But Brendan Rodgers has been given a couple of issues to resolve from that game.
Odsonne Edouard had to be stretchered off, while Kristoffer Ajer was sent off in the final minutes of the game after committing a foul as the last man back.
But while one defender is gearing up for a suspension, another appears to be closing in on his return from injury. Rodgers confirmed at the weekend, in comments reported by the Daily Mail, that he expects to have Boyata back for the Europa League tie with Valencia following a groin problem.
And the Belgian appears to continue to be on track to make that game next week as he was amongst the squad that returned to the training ground on Monday.
Interestingly, the images that the club posted on Twitter also showed 15-year-old Dembele working alongside the likes of Boyata and Olivier Ntcham. It would be a surprise if his first-team debut came anytime soon, but he will no doubt be hoping to catch Rodgers’ eye in the near future.
