The 25-year-old forward is back in business with the Gunners.
It’s the picture every Arsenal fan has wanted to see for months: Danny Welbeck back in first-team training.
Indeed, the versatile forward has been out injured for some time yet returns to the fold at London Colney in a genuinely unique position. He could be the key to the north London side winning the Premier League title.
After all, his return has been touted as the reason Arsenal haven’t signed another forward this January and, with Welbeck back in the side, the Gunners can now boast Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and the former Manchester United man as possible strikers.
But will this be another false dawn for Welbeck? If you look at the 25-year-old’s record at the Emirates to date, the goals haven’t exactly flown in.
He hasn’t changed Arsenal from also-rans to title winners.
Now, though, he has the chance. Will Welbeck prove pivotal for Arsene Wenger? Or will he simply fade away with a mediocre run of form in his lesser-preferred position out wide?
