The Tottenham Hotspur left-back was given the label by Dele Alli earlier this week.

This week saw Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Dele Alli stitch up his team-mate Danny Rose – by suggesting he was the ‘teacher’s pet’ of Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He was taking part in Soccer AM’s teammates segment when he declared:

“Danny Rose is the teacher’s pet, I don’t know if he seriously is but we all have a joke with him and call him the gaffer’s son. He [Rose] probably watches box-sets with the manager. It’s where they have their bonding time!”

If the England full-back was hoping to lose that tag amongst his colleagues then the pictures from Spurs training today will not help his cause.

Tottenham’s manager shared an embrace with the left-back which certainly showed a level of near paternal behaviour from the Argentine. Rose may have to brace himself for some more stick.

But the fact remains that his performances have been excellent for Tottenham under the management of Pochettino, who has certainly helped him come on leaps and bounds in the past few months.

Now a regular in the England national team and Spurs’ undisputed number one choice at left-back he is no longer a source of ridicule but of pride for the Tottenham Hotspur fans.

He may very well be the teacher’s pet at Spurs, but if he continues to improve in the way he has been that tag won’t bother him one bit.
