Matt Doherty was arguably Tottenham Hotspur’s best player in midweek.

Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup with a 1-0 defeat away to Championship outfit Middlesbrough.

There were a lot of subpar performances from Spurs on the night but the Republic of Ireland international was potentially the best of the bunch.

In fact, Doherty, a £15 million signing under Jose Mourinho, is beginning to look like a completely different player under Antonio Conte.

The Italian manager is getting a tune and consistency out of Doherty that both Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo failed to, having also been brilliant in the victory over Leeds United last weekend.

The former Wolves right-back is probably going to start Monday’s visit of Everton in the Premier League for what will be his second successive time making the starting lineup for a Premier League clash this season.

Conte’s brother, Gianluca, was spotted speaking to Doherty in Tottenham training on Friday, ahead of the Toffees encounter.

Here’s a gallery of the 30-year-old at Hotspur Way:

Transformation

This is a massive period for Doherty.

With Emerson Royal struggling, a solid second half of the campaign could save his career at Tottenham.

If he maintains this standard for the rest of the season then there’s a good chance that Conte will keep him at Hotpsur Way.

Remember, this is one of the players linked with a move away from North London during the January transfer window.

Conte is one of the world’s finest coaches, a manager who every player would love to play for.

And if Doherty continues to impress, starting against Everton on Monday, well it’ll only add to his transformation under the 52-year-old.
