West Bromwich Albion put up a spirited fight in their latest Premier League clash, but were unable to get the win.
It certainly appeared that West Brom’s decision to part company with Alan Pardew after their defeat to Burnley was a last throw of the dice by the board with their hopes of Premier League survival almost dashed entirely.
Darren Moore appears to be a hugely popular figure amongst the fans, and perhaps there was some belief that the change may have had a positive impact on a squad that had lost their last nine games in all competitions.
One win was never going to boost their hopes significantly, but it would have made something of a difference heading into the final weeks of the season. It would have given the side some momentum, and who knows what could have happened from there?
It appeared that that momentum may be starting to build as Jay Rodriguez gave them a 1-0 lead against Swansea City on Saturday. The Swans may be languishing also, but a win against Carlos Carvalhal’s side would have been huge given that they would be right near the top of the table had the season begun following the Portuguese’s appointment.
However, the points were to only be shared as Tammy Abraham scored from a corner with 15 minutes left. Once again, hope was dashed and the situation is now slightly bleaker.
It was an agonising moment from Chris Brunt that led to the equaliser. The Northern Irishman was impressive up until the moment his mistake gave the Swans the corner that they managed to score from.
