Celtic have been linked with the Sunderland attacker this summer.
Fabio Borini looks set to join AC Milan after photographs from the club’s Twitter account showed the Sunderland winger undergoing a medical.
But it would seem as if Rodgers has missed out as the Sunderland ace appears to be closing in on a move to the Serie A outfit.

The former Liverpool man, who was Rodgers’s first signing at Anfield, has only netted 16 goals in a five-year spell in English football, so perhaps his chances of success were stronger in Scotland than they will be in Italy, if the transfer materialises.
Scott Sinclair, who had also worked with the Celtic boss previously, joined his old manager in Glasgow last summer and netted 25 times in all competition this past season.
Who is to say that Borini would not have enjoyed similar glory at Parkhead? Of course, nobody knows if Celtic actually wanted him, or whether it was just paper talk, but if he had the chance to join up with Rodgers again then he might come to regret not taking it.
The Hoops will lose little sleep over it, however. They won a domestic treble last season, without losing a match, and few would back against them defending all three titles next term.
