The William Saliba goal v Bournemouth might be Arsenal’s best strike of the season.
In fact, it might the goal of the campaign by any player thus far.
Arsenal hammered the Cherries 3-0 on Saturday and it was the towering French defender who added gloss to the scoreline following a rampant first half.
Despite being a 6’4 powerhouse of a centre-back, Saliba evidently has silk to match the steel, as demonstrated so expertly yesterday.
The former Saint-Etienne academy player found the top corner with a sublime left-footed effort from outside the box.
It wasn’t the sort of finish typically associated with defenders and Gabriel Jesus’s reaction pretty much summed it all up.
Within seconds of the goal, the Arsenal striker, arguably the best signing of the summer in the Premier League, was photographed with his hands on his head in disbelief.

Remember, this is only Saliba’s third Premier League appearance.
Despite joining in 2019, the 21-year-old – also a full France international – was sent on loan a number of times.
But what a massive impact he’s had in English football since Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta brought him back and all credit to the Spaniard and his coaching staff.
At his age, he’s only going to get a thousand times better and that, if you’re a Gunner, is such an exciting prospect.
