It’s official: Tottenham Hotspur have signed Yves Bissouma.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder has signed for Spurs in a bargain £25 million agreement [The Athletic].

This is the Lilywhites’ third transfer of the summer window already and, according to Fabrizio Romano, it certainly won’t be their final piece of business.

Antonio Conte has been lauded from pillar to post for guiding Tottenham back into the Champions League last season against all odds, having only been appointed in November.

However, Fabio Paratici looks like he may have done the heavy lifting regarding the Bissouma deal.

That’s because the brilliant Italian manager is enjoying some well-deserved holiday time and although he is no doubt in constant communication with Paratici, the former Juventus director is likely to have been a lot more hands-on.

On Friday, the same day Bissouma was announced, Conte uploaded a topless photograph of himself straddling a surf board and steering it in the sea, accompanied by the caption ‘Paddle session’.

The former Inter Milan manager is, like the surf board, steering the North Londoners in the right direction.

Having signed Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forser and Bissouma, this is unprecedented early business by Tottenham and although Paratici seems to be doing the heavy lifting, the targets will have been pre-sanctioned by Conte.

Under Daniel Levy, Spurs generally have left it late in the summer to complete their business – quite often too late.

But Conte and Paratici seem an excellent combination, having worked together at Juventus, and Tottenham are going to benefit greatly from this partnership.
