Vincent Janssen made his first appearance for Spurs today as they suffered a 1-0 defeat in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Fulham, as reported on the club’s official website.
The Dutchman arrived last week on a four-year deal from AZ Alkmaar and has spent the past few days getting to grips with Mauricio Pochettino’s notoriously demanding pre-season schedule.

He was unable to find the net today however – with Championship side Fulham grabbing the win at Hotspur Way courtesy of a late goal from Luca de la Torre – but came close in the dying moments when his near-post flick on was turned over the bar by Jesse Joronen.

The Lilywhites fielded a team comprised of a mix of senior and squad development players but were a long way from full strength, with the bulk of the first XI still to return to training following their international exploits over the summer.

There were appearances for the likes of Heung-Min Son, Victor Wanyama and Alex Pritchard as Pochettino took the opportunity to study his group in action again following last week’s friendly win over Nottingham Forest.
