The Sweden star could well be in the Premier League next season with United, unless his former PSG teammate has anything to do with it.
Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic
It appears that Manchester United may have some serious rivals for Paris Saint-Germain star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after the striker was pictured in another team’s kit.
But supporters needn’t worry, it’s merely the photoshop skills of his teammate Marco Verratti, who was jokingly trying to convince the superstar – who scored 50 goals in what was his final season in France – to sign for the midfielder’s old club Pescara on his Instagram account.
Verratti’s comment translates as “we are waiting with open arms Ibrahimovic friend … What do you think Massimo Oddo?” – addressing the Pescara manager who is most famous for spells at Lazio and Milan.
Despite the Italian international’s hopes for his childhood team, it still seems a matter of when rather than if, the Sweden star finalises his move to Old Trafford.
The latest reports from the Mail suggest that the 34-year-old could complete a switch over the next few days.
If Ibrahimovic’s arrival at Paris Saint-Germain helped ensure the French giants’ place in their country as the dominant force, it is worth noting the contribution Verratti has made since arriving in 2012.

The 23-year-old has never actually played in Serie A, coming through initially at Pescara when they were in the third tier of Italian football. He spent two seasons in Serie B, the second of which saw Pescara promoted as champions, and it was this campaign that saw Verratti called up to Italy’s initial squad for the European Championships.
The playmaker has become a vital cog in the centre of PSG’s midfield, a part of the team that has inevitably led to Ibrahimovic smashing in the goals at the other end.
