Troy Parrott made his first ever competitive start for Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.
It did not go to plan, with Spurs failing to score and then losing on penalties to Colchester United.
Just last week Parrott was playing for Tottenham’s under-23 squad and was with the under-19s in the UEFA Youth League.
So after his Carabao Cup chance, would he head straight back to academy football?
It does not seem so, with Parrott pictured training with Tottenham’s first team yesterday.
Elimination from the cup may have caused Spurs to alter their plan for Parrott.
Prior to that, the competition was ideal for Tottenham to give the 17-year-old game time. That is not on the table any more, so Mauricio Pochettino may look to get him more involved in the Premier League.
Spurs still lack an effective back up for Harry Kane and Parrott has the ability to fill the role.
It might take him a bit of time to adjust, as midweek showed, but Spurs seem determined to help him reach the top.
