Tottenham Hotspur have seen several young prospects rise through their academy into the first team in recent seasons, but Marcus Edwards could be the most exciting of the lot.

The 17-year-old came off the bench in the EFL Cup win over Gillingham, and has seen his dribbling ability compared by head coach Mauricio Pochettino to none other than Lionel Messi.

He has been working with the first team squad over the past month, and in new signing Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, he may already have found a close pal.

The Frenchman posted a picture on Instagram of the pair, describing Edwards as like his little brother.

The former Marseille winger is just 21 himself, and is still adjusting to life as a Premier League player.

With Edwards, he hopes to become part of the Tottenham first team for many years to come, and the duo could well be the two most exciting players at the club.

To see them striking up a bond so quickly is encouraging, and emphasises the family atmosphere at Spurs which sees young players so readily welcomed into the first team squad by members of the first team.
