The 22-year-old didn’t look affected by recent links with Tottenham Hotspur during Newcastle United training.

According to the Daily Star among others, Tottenham are planning a £12 million January bid for Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez.

Perez has been an impressive performer for the Magpies both this season and last, with the Star‘s report also suggesting Manchester United are interested in the Spaniard.

But Tottenham reportedly want the Newcastle man for themselves after an encouraging few months at St James’ Park.

And Perez, of course, could fill a very important void within Mauricio Pochettino’s squad…

Tottenham need a forward to support Harry Kane and the 22-year-old suits the club’s transfer policy. He’s young, creative and versatile.

As Opta stats show, he hasn’t actually created that many chances but two of the 11 he has done have led to goals. He’s also scored three times – more than any other Spurs or Newcastle player except for Kane and Georginio Wijnaldum in the Premier League.

With the ball at feet, meanwhile, Perez is also effective, beating his man 22 times to date, just two less than Mousa Dembele.

The forward is no doubt fully focused on matters at Newcastle first and foremost, though, and he certainly looked it in training on Tuesday afternoon…
