Tottenham Hotspur are set to take on CSKA Moscow later this evening.
Marcus Edwards has been snapped in training with Tottenham Hotspur’s senior squad, ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s match against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League later this evening.
Tottenham’s under-23’s take on CSKA before the senior side play today, but Edwards’ inclusion with the first-team is intriguing.
While most of Spurs’ youngsters trained together, Edwards was given the chance to join the more senior players on the pitch on the Arena CSKA pitch.
Edwards has been touted as one of Tottenham’s most exciting developing talents, and he recently made his senior debut against Gillingham in the League Cup.
The 17-year-old has excelled at youth level for Spurs, and there is a possibility that he could be included in their senior squad against CSKA this evening.
Without Harry Kane, there is a place up for grabs up-front, and Pochettino has previously proven that he is not afraid to put his faith in youth.
It seems most likely that Edwards will still play for Spurs’ under-23 side this evening, but Pochettino’s decision to keep the youngster with the senior squad shows just how close he is to breaking into the first-team side.
