Tottenham Hotspur defender returns after international duty.

Toby Alderweireld of Spura arrives prior to The Emirates FA Cup Quarter Final match between Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur at Liberty Stadium on March 17, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is back at the club and has let supporters know.

Alderweireld has not played for Spurs since mid-February due to injuries, and made a return to action this week for Belgium on international duty, featuring for 90 minutes in a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia.

The Belgian has now returned to Tottenham, and let fans know by posting a photo of himself outside the club’s HQ.

Alderweireld’s actions do not seem like those of a player who has mentally checked out amid his ongoing contract dispute.

The Times reported last month Spurs could sell Alderweireld this summer, with the centre-back demanding to become Tottenham’s highest paid player.

Spurs have a huge decision to make this weekend when they take on Chelsea, and supporters are expecting to see Alderweireld start.

If he does not, then worries that he is not being picked for football reasons will rise, and keeping Alderweireld engaged and selecting him is essential to trying to still persuade him to sign a new deal.
