A post-match embrace between Kieran Tierney and Nir Bitton will have warmed Celtic fans’ hearts last night.

The former Hoops team-mates came up against each other in a Nations League game as Israel drew 1-1 away to Scotland.

Tierney, who joined Arsenal last summer, shared a Celtic dressing room with Bitton for roughly four years in Glasgow.

And here’s how the pair greeted one another after the final whistle last night:

Bitton, who stands at 6’5, is very much an unsung hero at Celtic.

The versatile utility player has been an exceptional servant to the Bhoys over the past seven years, but his playing time could be reduced this year.

Bitton has played 90 minutes in two games under Neil Lennon so far this season, but the addition of Shane Duffy this week will result in him being Celic’s fourth-choice central defender, behind Chris Jullien, Kristoffer Ajer and Duffy.

He can play central midfield too, but Lennon has more than enough options for that role.

All signs point to it being a low-profile season for Bitton in terms of individual appearances, but he’ll stay professional to the very end.
