McInnes announced his intention to snub a move to Ibrox and move to Aberdeen, after six weeks of speculation.
It left Rangers back at square one, issuing a bizarre statemement which declared none of the managers who had applied for the job as good enough.

Rodgers has seen off two Rangers managers, and there was a cruel irony in Rodgers being presented with another gong for his record as Celtic’s Old Firm rivals hit rock bottom.
Celtic’s manager is regarded as the best in the country, while Rangers can’t even get appointing one right.
