The left-back has been linked with a move to join Pochettino at Spurs in the summer.
Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino speaks with Luke Shaw
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has recently been linked with a move away from the club, with Tottenham Hotspur one team said to be keen on the player.
Of course he knows the manager at White Hart Lane very well. Mauricio Pochettino was his manager during Shaw’s time at Southampton and came on leaps and bounds under the guidance of the Argentine.
In fact, it was under the management of Pochettino that Shaw made his breakthrough into the England national team set-up in 2014 and he was embraced by the Argentine at the time of the call-up.
Shaw and Pochettino have some fantastic memories together from their time at Southampton, when the left-back really started to come on as a talent.
But Spurs already have two left-back options in the form of current first-choice England star Danny Rose and Welsh international Ben Davies, whilst Shaw’s form at United is starting to pick up.
But there is no doubt that he and Pochettino would relish the opportunity to work together again in the future – as their previous relationship appears to demonstrate.
