Saidy Janko has trained with the first-team at Carrington this afternoon.
This summer Manchester United found themselves criticised for not backing their youth team, particularly after they sold Danny Welbeck to Arsenal for £16 million and brought in Radamel Falcao instead.
But that myth has been dispelled to a degree recently with the arrival of Paddy McNair and Tom Thorpe on the first-team. The former started against West Ham United last week, and put in an excellent performance – denying an obvious equalising opportunity for Carlton Cole late in the game.
But they have not been the only youngsters in training with the first-team this week – as the above picture shows.
That is Swiss youngster Saidy Janko training with the Manchester United first team this afternoon. The 18-year-old Switzerland under-19 international arrived at the club from FC Zurich in 2013 and was named the Reserves Player of the Year last season.
The young right-back made his debut for the club this season in the 4-0 defeat against MK Dons in the Capital One Cup – a game in which he was subbed off at half-time, not impressing United fans with his performance.
But it seems he might be on the fringes of the United first-team for the upcoming fixtures after joining the likes of Angel Di Maria, Robin van Persie and Falcao in a conditioning exercise this afternoon.
