You could argue that the only good thing about Arsenal’s season has been Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Brazilian centre-back has been brilliant since joining the Gunners in a £27 million deal from Lille this past summer.

In fact, Gabriel has won Arsenal’s Player of the Month for September, October and November in a statistic which both illustrates how good he has been – but also how poor virtually everybody else has performed.

But there was one pretty worrying sight at London Colney on Saturday as Mikel Arteta put his side through their paces ahead of today’s clash with Burnley at the Emirates Stadium.

In one photo, the 22-year-old powerhouse is spotted wincing as he is helped back to his feet by Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Shkodran Mustafi – and Arsenal fans will be praying that there’s not an ounce of significance to it.

Arteta also included quite a few younger players in the session – and former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jonathan Dinzeyi was one of them.

The 21-year-old joined Arsenal from their North London rivals Spurs during the summer, but has only turned out for the youth sides so far, and the youngster could be seen battling with Gabriel Martinelli on Saturday.

Arteta’s side began the weekend at 15th in the Premier League table and a victory over the Clarets today would be their first win in this competition since beating Manchester United at Old Trafford, which was on November 1.
