Back in January, Jesse Lingard seemed destined to leave Manchester United, with West Ham and Newcastle fighting for his signature.

According to The Athletic, West Ham held talks with the 29-year-old on the morning of deadline day, but a move failed to materialise.

Elsewhere, ESPN believe Tottenham, Newcastle and the Hammers are set to battle it out for Lingard when he becomes a free agent in the summer.

Earlier today, the England international posted a photo on his daughter’s Instagram account which may serve as a hint…

What’s the story?

Well, Lingard took his daughter Hope to the London Stadium, by the looks of the Instagram account he controls, as per the bio.

It is hardly major news, although it’s certainly interesting to see, as you would’ve thought he’d be in Manchester right now.

If Lingard has decided to keep a property in London, then it serves as a big hint as to where his future may lie.

That is good news for West Ham and Tottenham, although it will leave Newcastle wondering if he’s prepared to take his family all the way to Tyneside.

Manchester United should’ve let Jesse Lingard go to West Ham, Tottenham or Newcastle

In our view, Manchester United have treated Lingard terribly.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils decided not to sell their No.14 to West Ham or Tottenham in January as they didn’t want to strengthen a rival.

They also ruined his move to Newcastle by demanding a £2.5m loan fee and a £12m survival bonus, all for a player who becomes a free agent in June.

Since the January window closed, Ralf Rangnick has given Lingard scraps of game time, making the decision to keep him against his will even worse.

Hopefully, Lingard can get his career back on track in the 2022/23 season.
