Tottenham Hotspur fans got a rare chance to see Cameron Carter-Vickers in action this afternoon.
The Spurs’ faithful haven’t seen the USA international play a competitive game for them in four years but he was loaned to Bournemouth for the whole campaign in October.
Cherries boss – and former Tottenham defender – Jonathan Woodgate has been singing the player’s praises in recent weeks.
But it was a difficult afternoon for the big man and his team-mates today as the Championship side slumped to a 3-0 FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Southampton.
Carter-Vickers, whose Tottenham contract expires this summer, scored an own goal that was later chalked off by VAR.
But he failed to cut out the pass which led to the Premier League side going ahead through Moussa Djenepo on 37 minutes – and suffice to say that the 23-year-old, who pulled his jersey over his head straight after, looked disappointed over the goal.

Carter-Vickers, who was labelled an ‘absolute beast’ by former Tottenham team-mate Jan Vertonghen a few years ago [ESPN], clearly has no future with the North London side.
If the Lilywhites had a long-term plan for him, they would’ve extended his contract prior to loaning him out, but it looks certain that he’ll be released by the club this summer.
