West Ham United have been linked with signing Maccabi Tel Aviv star Dor Peretz – but new photos suggest he’s heading elsewhere.

Who is Dor Peretz?

Peretz, 26, has come up through the Maccabi youth ranks, and starred last season with 10 goals and nine assists in all competitions.

A key Israeli international with 20 caps to his name, Peretz is out of contract this summer and seemingly ready for a taste of football outside of Israel.

West Ham’s interest in Peretz

It’s clear that West Ham want to sign a new midfielder this summer. They need more depth to support Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice, especially with European football secured.

Czech international Alex Kral has been a popular name, but Sport1 in Israel recently claimed that West Ham were challenging for Peretz.

Given that he was available for free, Perezt could have been a bargain alternative to Kral, especially as his former boss Andi Herzog believes Peretz would be a £17million player if he was in the Bundesliga.

West Ham poised to miss out

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio is a key source in any transfer window, and he has now posted a photo of Peretz arriving in Italy to sign for Venezia.

Peretz even confirmed his move at the airport, and will look to help keep the newly-promoted side in Serie A.

For West Ham, this may not be the biggest miss, but it’s still a midfielder to tick off the list of potential signings this summer.
