Leeds United have taken Accrington Stanley prospect Ross Sykes on trial.
Sykes featured in Leeds’ under-23 draw with Tadcaster Albion earlier this week.
The photo above was posted on Twitter by Sykes’ mother Paula, and was ‘liked’ by Accrington Stanley chairman Andy Holt.
Sykes is under contract at Accrington until 2018 and Leeds would have to negotiate his signature but he has gone on trial with the League Two club’s blessing.
Leeds have made several additions to their under-23 team this season, signing players from Spain, Morocco and Bulgaria.
Trialist Sykes is a little less continental, the 18-year-old was born in Burnley.
He has made three first team appearance for Accrington Stanley to date, each coming in the EFL Trophy.
Sykes was named on the bench for nine League Two clashes last season but was not called upon.
The defender is very much one for the future, and Leeds are still weighing up their options, but his trial shows the Whites are not just looking abroad for new recruits for their academy.
