Everton lost 2-1 away at Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
Everton’s disastrous away form continued on Saturday afternoon as they squandered a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 away at Burnley.
The Toffees went into the game having lost their last five away games in all competitions, including the 1-0 loss at Watford last weekend which heaped pressure on manager Sam Allardyce.
Everton looked to be getting back on track when Cenk Tosun scored his first goal for the club, with the January signing heading home after Seamus Coleman had flicked on Theo Walcott’s cross.
However, Everton capitulated after the break, as Matthew Lowton picked out Ashley Barnes to make it 1-1, before Chris Wood headed home Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s corner to hand Burnley a 2-1 win.
Everton’s dismal afternoon was capped off with Ashley Williams’ late red card, as the defender was given his marching orders for an elbow on Barnes.
At seven points clear of the relegation zone, Everton should be safe, but manager Allardyce is under increasing pressure from fans after a torrid start to 2018, with just two wins in all competitions.
Allardyce is attempting to continue on in the face of huge frustration, and midfielder Wayne Rooney summed up how Everton fans are feeling with an exasperated look towards the heavens as the final whistle sounded at Turf Moor, as pictured at the very top.
Everton must now hope to bounce back at home to Brighton and Hove Albion next weekend, with a host of photos capturing the Toffees’ disappointing afternoon in East Lancashire…
