Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing the signing of Atalanta defender Cristian Romero – but he was back in training with the Serie A club on Sunday.
Fabio Paratici has already raided Atalanta once to sign goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, and he now wants to do it again with Romero.
TyC Sports in Romero’s native Argentina reported over the weekend that Tottenham’s new bid of around £47million has now been accepted by Atalanta.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Romero wants to tell Atalanta today that he wants the move to Tottenham in an attempt to force through a deal.
Romero isn’t pulling a Harry Kane and avoiding training though, as he has been spotted working with Atalanta again.
Atalanta have posted photos on Twitter of Romero and Juan Musso in training after they returned following their Copa America success with Argentina.
Romero may want the move to Tottenham, but he isn’t about to sit out training in order to make it happen.
Tottenham fans may wish Kane took a similar approach, but this isn’t a huge blow to their hopes of landing the centre back.
Paratici wants Romero and the defender seems keen, so Tottenham will have real hope of securing Romero this month – even if Kane’s potential exit overshadows any incomings.
