Colombian star has joined up with the Real Madrid squad following his summer transfer from Monaco.
James Rodriguez has linked up with his new Real Madrid team-mates ahead of the new season, as he attended his first training session with the club on Friday.
Rodriguez was unveiled at the European Champions last week in a deal worth around €63million, after he left Monaco just one year into his contract.
The 23-year-old was one of the stars of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, where he scored six goals on route to winning the Golden Boot. His stunning volley against Uruguay in the knock-out stages was the pick of his goals, and has boosted his stock to become one of the hottest prospects in world football.
Following his extended break having made it to the quarter-finals of the tournament, Rodriguez arrived on Friday along with Karim Benzema to prepare for the new season.
Madrid have been busy boosting their ranks so far this summer, with Toni Kroos also joining the club from Bayern Munich. But Kroos’ arrival, along with Rodriguez, has cast doubt over several first-team players such as Isco, Angel Di Maria and Sami Khedira. The latter two are due back in training on Tuesday, as speculation continues to throw their futures into doubt.
For Rodriguez though, he will definitely be featuring alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema, as Madrid chase a possible six trophies with their new ‘galactico’ line-up.
