Jack Wilshere has joined West Ham United.
As announced on West Ham’s official website this afternoon, Wilshere has moved to the London club on a free transfer.
The England international midfielder was a free agent following his departure from Arsenal earlier this summer.
The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with West Ham and will fly out to Switzerland to link up with manager Manuel Pellegrini’s squad at their pre-season training camp in Bad Ragaz.
Wilshere has explained his reason for joining West Ham after leaving Arsenal earlier this summer, and has also praised the fans.
The England international told West Ham’s official website: “I think it was a number of things, the manager being one and the way he wants to play and where he sees me playing.
“The fans, of course – everyone knows how big West Ham’s fanbase is – and especially in this new Stadium. Not many clubs could fill it week in, week out, and West Ham do.
“I want to be playing here in front of the Hammers, and my bond I’ve had with the Club over my childhood will make it even more special.”
Busy summer for West Ham United
West Ham have been quite busy so far in the summer transfer window and have made a number of signings already.
The Premier League club had secured the services of Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski and Ryan Fredericks this summer, before bringing in Wilshere.
According to The London Evening Standard, West Ham are set to sign Ukraine international winger Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund for £17.5 million and have agreed a £3m fee with Corinthians for central defender Fabian Balbuena.
