Not many will have expected Rangers to progress to the Europa League group stage this season, and on Thursday evening Steven Gerrard’s side had the chance to advance to the knockout rounds.
Rangers needed to win against Rapid Vienna away from home in Austria to book their place in the Europa League Round of 32.
The Gers headed into the game with optimism, but in the end they failed to pick up all three points and went down 1-0.

Among the players who featured for Rangers against Rapid Vienna was rising star Ross McCrorie, and the following picture of the 20-year-old – who can operate as a defender or as a midfielder – during the game sums up how the Gers players felt.
