Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have one representative at this summer’s World Cup.

Rangers don’t have a lot of representation at the World Cup, but they do have at least one player in the form of Bruno Alves.

The 36-year-old, who has 96 caps for Portugal, was included in Fernando Santos’s squad which travelled to Russia.

But the Rangers centre-back had to settle for a spot on the bench in Friday’s pulsating 3-3 draw with Spain in Sochi.

Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed an 88nd-minute equaliser to thwart Fernando Hierro’s side and earn a point in his country’s Group B opener.

In doing so, the £91 million-rated superstar [CIES, Football Observatory] completed his hat-trick, and the Gers veteran was on hand to embrace him after one of the Real Madrid star’s three goals.

It’ll be interesting to see if Alves has a future at Ibrox beyond this summer.

After all, he turns 37 later this year and new Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has just signed Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic to bolster his centre-back options.
