Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson faced Manchester United’s Paul Pogba during Sweden’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against France.
France faced Sweden at Stade de France in Saint-Denis in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification UEFA Group A game on Friday evening.
Didier Deschamps’s side headed into the match as favourites, and they picked up all three points courtesy of a 2-1 victory.
After a goalless first half, Sweden took the lead in the 55th minute when Emil Forsberg scored.
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba restored parity for France just three minutes later, and West Ham United star Dimitri Payet made it 2-1 to the home team on 65 minutes.
Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson featured in the match, but he made only a cameo appearance.
The 25-year-old centre-back, who joined Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Torino in the summer transfer window and has already become a favourite among the Elland Road faithful, came on as a substitute in the 87th minute.
During the match, the former Malmo FF defender faced Pogba, who is the world’s most expensive footballer, having joined United from Italian giants Juventus in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £89 million.
