Everton suffered another defeat in the Premier League as they were beaten 4-1 by Southampton at St Mary’s.

Everton’s problems continue to mount in the Premier League as they now sit just two points above the relegation zone in the top flight after losing in emphatic fashion against Southampton at St Mary’s.
Sunday’s clash on the south coast saw two managers under plenty of pressure go up against each other, with Mauricio Pellegrino starting to face plenty of questions about whether he is the right man for the Saints after their run of form heading into the clash with the Toffees.

Unsworth may not be fighting for his job as such given that he is only in caretaker charge, but his chances of getting the post on a permanent basis have surely not been enhanced recently and Everton desperately need a turnaround in form.
Unfortunately for the Merseyside outfit, that turnaround did not come against the Saints, with the home side running out 4-1 winners after an exhilarating second-half display where they scored three times to wrap up the three points.
And perhaps one photo best sums up the mood at Goodison Park right now, with defender Phil Jagielka clearly feeling the frustration after yet another poor result.
The season started out with so much optimism for the Toffees, but it appears that they may well be in a relegation scrap this term, and Jagielka’s expression at the end of yesterday’s game undoubtedly reflects how the Toffees fans are feeling right now.
