Patrick Roberts has been sidelined at Celtic since November.
Celtic winger Patrick Roberts has returned to Celtic training almost six weeks after first suffering a hamstring injury towards the end of November in a Scottish Premiership clash against Motherwell.
The 20-year-old was taken off the field of play in just 11th minute at Fir Park on November 29, and replaced by Scott Sinclair as he was clutching his hamstring. He has failed to play for the Hoops since.
The England youth international returned to parent club Manchester City in order to focus on regaining his fitness, but remains on loan with the Hoops and it seems as though he could already be on the mend.
Celtic’s squad are currently in Dubai and it was confirmed on their official Twitter account that former Fulham attacker Roberts had returned to training, after they posted a photo online of the winger in action.
The attacker’s return to training could be considered somewhat of a surprise, as Roberts posted on Instagram in early December that he would be sidelined for a “few months”.
Roberts is yet to show the kind of quality that saw him shine in Glasgow last season this time around, scoring just one goal in 12 league and cup encounters and adding only three assists.
However, that goal did come in an all-important Champions League tie against Anderlecht in Belgium, and fans will be desperate to see him return sooner rather than later with Jonny Hayes sidelined.
