David Luiz and Thiago Silva posed for the camera yesterday.
Last week saw Chelsea agree a fee with Paris Saint-Germain for their defender David Luiz. The former Benfica man looks set to become the most expensive defender of all time, with reports of a fee somewhere between £40 million and £50 million becoming the norm.
The deal is not yet tied up. While Chelsea have confirmed they have agreed a fee with PSG and are willing to let him go, the logistics of him being on international duty with Brazil appear to have been a mini stumbling block.
Nonetheless Luiz has said goodbye to Chelsea fans through Twitter and Facebook and this deal is not going to collapse – Luiz will be a PSG player next season.
And he will be in good company.
The French champions have a litany of Brazilian players in their ranks, including the man whose mantle as most expensive defender he will be taking – Thiago Silva.
But the two are also the centre-back partnership for Selecao and Luiz shared a selfie of him and his new team-mate yesterday. With his PSG move around the corner, there will be plenty more where this came from.
