Leeds United’s Helder Costa was unlucky to be on the losing side on his return to Wolverhampton Wanderers last night.
Wolves edged out Marcelo Bielsa’s side with a controversial 1-0 win at Molineux.
Adama Traore’s thunderous effort bounced off the crossbar and rebounded off the back of Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier’s head for what proved to be the winning goal.
The Elland Road side thought they’d snatched a point with a brilliant finish from Patrick Bamford in the final stages, though it was ruled offside after a VAR decision.
Bamford and other Leeds stars will no doubt be furious over the defeat, as will Costa, who replaced Jack Harrison after 81 minutes.
But the Portuguese winger did seem to enjoy a warm reunion with some of his old colleagues after the final whistle.
Costa, who joined Leeds from Wolves in the summer of 2019, spent three years on Wolves’ books and Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo, along with his staff, was clearly delighted to see him afterwards.

Victory would’ve propelled Leeds into 10th place above Arsenal in the Premier League but instead, Bielsa’s side dropped back to 12th.
