Tottenham’s £25 million new boy Sergio Reguilon has been pictured in training following his move from Real Madrid.
The Spain international impressed on loan at Sevilla last season, winning the Europa League while scoring three goals and setting up five more in all competitions.
That was enough to convince Jose Mourinho to part with over £20 million to sign the 23-year-old, who should offer a more dynamic alternative to Ben Davies at left-back.
Reguilon’s arrival was confirmed by Tottenham on Saturday 19th September, and he has already been able to get stuck into training.
Here is a snap of the Spaniard, who looks like he means business if his serious facial expression is anything to go by.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Gareth Bale yet.
The Welshman isn’t quite up to speed. The Guardian reported that Spurs expect the four-time Champions League winner to be ready after the October international break.
Mourinho believes that Bale’s love for the club could help him return even faster.
The Guardian quote him as saying: ‘He is so happy to play for us and when a player has this motivation, many, many times you can shorten the period of recovering and shorten the period of getting fit and ready to play and we want to help him.’
While much of the fuss has unsurprisingly been over Bale, Reguilon’s involvement in training should not be swept under the rug.
He is a fine attacking player who will hopefully hand Tottenham a new dimension on the flanks with Matt Doherty on the other side.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the duo get involved, especially with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in the box waiting for deliveries.
