Defoe signed with Rangers on a 18-month loan deal at the weekend after an underwhelming spell at Bournemouth.
The veteran striker hopes to spark his career under former teammate Steven Gerrard.
Defoe will wear Rangers’ number nine shirt, and he looks pleased about this, sending a tweet to show off his squad number.
Defoe is currently in Tenerife with the rest of the Rangers squad on their mid-season training camp.
Rangers are on their Winter break, which they entered full of confidence after signing off with a victory over Celtic.
Defoe is one of two signings made by Rangers who join up immediately, along with Southampton midfielder Steven Davis, also on loan.
