One very interesting aspect of Liverpool’s pre-season campaign is Taiwo Awoniyi.

The Reds signed the 23-year-old striker way back in 2015 but due to work permit issues, still hasn’t made his debut for the club.

That being said, Awoniyi, who has had seven loan moves away from Liverpool, is now finally able to represent the club in a competitive game.

And it’ll be fascinating to see if he can impress Jurgen Klopp to the point where he keeps him around for the 2021-22 campaign.

Klopp and his Liverpool players are in Austria right now in preparation for next season, which kicks off for the Reds with a clash against newly-promoted Norwich City on August 14.

And there was a rare sighting of Awoniyi himself who, it has to be said, looks like one hell of a physical specimen.

Here’s some photos of the big man from Saturday as he towers over Naby Keita and Sadio Mane:

Is he staying at Liverpool?

He has it all to do, let’s be honest.

Five goals in 21 games for Union Berlin last season doesn’t suggest that Awoniyi is going to take the Premier League by storm, if Klopp does give him chances next term.

And say what you want about Roberto Firmino not exactly being the most prolific of goalscorers, having only found the net nine times in all competitions last season.

But the Brazilian is simply next level in regards to other aspects of his forward play and unless the Nigerian machine blows Klopp away over the coming weeks, it’s probably safe to say that the club will be listening to offers of a permanent sale.
