After transfer deadline day concluded it emerged Leeds United had added a young player to their squad named Amadou Haidara, although the club did not confirm his acquisition.

Nonetheless, the young Frenchman has been featuring for the club’s under-23 team over the past month.

He started the 4-3 win over Bolton this week, as part of a line-up which also included Gaetano Berardi, Toumani Diagouraga, and Luke Murphy.

He has also shared this image of himself in training via his Instagram page, with a simply message, which read: “Training day with @lufcofficial almost 100% fit #nodaysoff.”

Not much is known about Haidara other than that he is a defender, but he has recently been praised by under-23 coach Jason Blunt, who said he has been welcomed by his teammates.

Speaking to LUTV a fortnight ago, Blunt remarked: “He’s a good character in the dressing room, a very determined young man and he’s been a good addition to the squad.”

His involvement this week in the under-23 match was his first start, another step in his push to further his career at the club.

It would be a big jump to presume he could feature for the first team this season, with the immediate goal simply being to become a regular for the under-23s and build from there.

Should he continue to make an impact, then more may be learned about the mystery man…
