Everton’s woes continued on Sunday afternoon, as they were hammered 5-2 at home by Arsenal in a defeat which again piles the pressure on manage Ronald Koeman.
The Toffees went into the game having won just twice in their first eight league games of the season, and after a 2-1 Europa League defeat to Lyon on Thursday night, confidence was at a real low.

Nacho Monreal equalised with a powerful effort after Jordan Pickford had saved Granit Xhaka’s strike, before a flowing counter-attack ended in Mesut Ozil heading home Alexis Sanchez’s delicate cross.

After Gueye was sent off for a second bookable offence, Alexandre Lacazette hammered Ozil’s pass in, with Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez both scoring either side of Oumar Niasse’s consolation.
With five defeats in nine league games this term, Everton are now in the bottom three, and the pressure on Koeman is rising by the day, with fans believing that this could be the the final straw.

After the full time whistle, Everton players showed their own frustration, with defender Michael Keane covering his face in despair at yet another defeat, summing up the feeling around Goodison Park.
With Gueye showing his anguish at being sent off and Nikola Vlasic also cutting a frustrated figure, it was another torrid day for Everton – and Koeman is now on borrowed time on Merseyside.
