A certain Santiago Munoz was given a chance to impress Newcastle United players up close on Wednesday.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe promoted the 19-year-old to senior training at Benton ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Munoz joined the Magpies on transfer deadline day of the summer window, signing on an 18-month loan arrangement.

However, the striker hasn’t been making that many headlines, despite the fact he joined as an academy player originally.

That being said, Howe has offered him a platform to potentially kick-start his Newcastle career by welcoming him to the senior session yesterday afternoon.

Here’s some photographs of the attacker in action:

Debut incoming?

Well, that might be a little unrealistic.

However, it’s worth pointing out that Howe could probably do with additional firepower.

Callum Wilson remains injured and Chris Wood hasn’t scored since a big-money arrival from Burnley in January.

Newcastle could do with alternative striking options and positionally, Munoz certainly fits the bill.

Whether he’s anywhere good enough for Premier League football at the moment remains to be seen, however.
