Arsenal record signing Mesut Ozil watched on from the stands as the Gunners beat Southampton 1-0.

Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil watched from the stands as the Gunner beat Southampton 1-0.

Alexis Sanchez’s late strike saw them make it two Premier League wins in a row, and crucially two clean sheets in succession – three each including last week’s Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund.

German international Ozil is out injured until January with a knee problem, and took to Twitter as he frequently does after a win, except this time, posting a photo of himself in his seat at The Emirates.

He was clearly feeling the cold, sitting with a blanket over his legs – but also his injured knee, which prevents his followers seeing if he is still wearing a brace to support it.

Ozil’s creativity was sorely lacking for much of the game, with the deadlock only broken in the 88th minute, but as his message wrote – this one was all about the result.

A loss would have seen Arsenal fall nine points behind Southampton, now they are just three behind the Saints, who host Manchester United next.
